The Braun Family
Steve & Karen Braun
have been devout Christians for over
20 years. They are the proud parents of six children, Kristin,
Jason, Joshua, Katherine, Elizabeth, and Elaina, whom they homeschool.
Their marriage and family life is a "work in progress" like everyone
else's. They do not claim to be perfect (not even close!) or to have
cornered the truth. Rather, they believe God has called them to challenge
and encourage
families in their faith and efforts to raise godly children. Their goal is
to build God's kingdom one person and one family at a time.
 Steve Braun is the creator and main speaker for Civil War Dads. He is an amateur Civil War historian and enjoys Civil War
reenacting as a Union infantry private in honor of his great-great-grandfather,
William Fletcher Hughey, who served in the 73rd Ohio Volunteer
Infantry and the 19th Veteran Reserve Corps. Steve is the founder and president of
Liberty Financial Planning
where he works as a "fee-only" financial adviser. He is also a writer, teacher, and
conference speaker on various family and financial topics (see

Family Resources for more details). Steve holds a BA
and an MBA, with Honors, from the University of Michigan. Visit
